Holidays in Cornwall

Whether you are looking for a luxurious weekend away, a relaxing break or a family holiday, Cornwall has something to offer every traveller.

Situated on the most south western tip of England between the Atlantic Ocean and English Channel, Cornwall provides miles of coastal scenery and paths, a delightful mix of superb beaches (among the best in Britain), outstanding scenery and charming towns, villages and cities.

Whichever type of holiday you choose, Cornwall offers accommodation to suit all holidaymakers.  Choose from luxury and family hotels, B&Bs and guesthouses, farmhouses, holiday cottages, caravan and camping.

For those who like an activity break, you will find plenty of adventure and sports facilities available including surfing (Cornwall is the premier place to surf in the UK), horse riding, cycling, trekking, fossil hunting, fishing and golf.  There are also family safe sandy beaches and theme parks.

Interested in history and culture?   Cornwall is mystical, ancient and highly fascinating.  King Arthur is believed to have come from a small town called Tintagel and there are many more examples of history throughout the county.  Tales abound of shipwrecks and pirates and there is even now a popular sport called ‘gig racing’ which involves teams rowing long narrow wooden boats – the same type of boats used to ferry treasure across to and from Europe in days gone by.

If you are looking for something to eat, there are also many choices.  There are speciality restaurants, many serving dishes with local produce.  Locally caught fish is also popular. Cornish Pubs offer good hearty foods and a choice of flavoursome ales. And let’s not forget the “Cornish pasty” – a tasty meat pie that must be tried when visiting Cornwall.

Whether it’s lazing on lovely white beaches, exploring quiet, picture-perfect fishing villages or an energetic activity holiday you’re after, you’ll find it all when you visit Cornwall.  It also enjoys the best weather anywhere in the country.  Not surprisingly the south coast has gained a reputation as ‘The Cornish Riviera’.

Holidays In Devon

If you enjoy coasts & estuaries and wide-open spaces, then a holiday in Devon will delight you.

Devon is one of the largest counties in the UK and is famously known to offer the traveller a feast of splendid scenery, lovely beaches and pretty harbour towns.

Situated to the north of Cornwall, Devon is a walkers paradise and boasts two national parks.  Exmoor in the north is the gentler and offers stunning scenery with thickly wooded valleys and picturesque villages.  Dartmoor to the south is more rugged with tall granite “tors” standing out on top of plateaus divided by the river Dart.  On the south-western edge of Dartmoor, just nine miles from Plymouth you will also find Dartmoor Wild Life Park.

To the south of Devon, popular destinations include Plymouth and Torbay (an area which includes, Torquay, Paignton and the fishing port of Brixham).  Here you will find clean sandy beaches and a host of attractions for a family holiday.

While enjoying a holiday in Devon, be sure to experience the wonderfully rugged coastline scenery. Devon is also blessed with some stunning countryside – charming narrow little roads amble on for miles and offer a myriad of explosive colours during the summertime. Driving through these single-lane roads is an experience like no other – arrive in a Devon town that’s dotted with charming thatched cottages and enjoy a cream tea and scone in one of the many teashops.

Devon offers the traveller a classic English village experience – and there are many great hotels, B&Bs and many more types of accommodation to cater to the needs of both the luxury traveller and budget conscious back-packer.

Devon also offers some of the best year-round weather to be found anywhere in the UK. Temperatures in January (when the rest of the country is shivering) average a maximum of 9 degrees.
